It’s here! A funny book about hovercraft

by Kathy Brogan as told by Russ Bagley and John Barker

If hovercraft can go anywhere…

For over forty years, Russ and John travelled the globe to work with hovercraft. They have driven, commissioned, broken and repaired hovercraft all over the world but have never told the stories – until now. If hovercraft can go anywhere how did we end up here? recounts the highlights and lowlights of these travels. Reluctant heroes, Russ and John have battled not only with the elements, but with unreasonable customers, unrealistic expectations and impossible red tape. Often alone, conspired against by misaligned air intakes, maladjusted skirt shifts and flying spanners, they have had to rely on their wits and their skills of improvisation. Through it all, the one thing that kept them going and motivated them in their struggle was the simple desire to get on the next plane home. After all, the places that need hovercraft are, tough, rugged unsociable and not in the least bit glamorous – just like John and Russ, in fact – and whether you love, hate or are indifferent to hovercraft, you will find yourself sympathising as time and again they ask…

…how did we end up here?
